It’s been a fun regular season for youth football teams in the LocalNews coverage area, but now it’s time to play for keeps.
The postseason is set to kick off — this weekend for the Keystone Youth Football and Cheerleading League and next weekend for the CFA Youth Football League — and area squads are eager to prove how much they’ve learned from their seasons on the field.
Lower-seeded teams in the KYFCL will be locking horns in win-or-go-home games on Saturday and Sunday for the right to play the top teams in the league. The Hamilton Jaguars will be the program to beat, as they bring undefeated varsity (8-0) and JV (7-0) teams to compete for the KYFCL crown. With an 8-0 record, the Hagerstown Hubs enter as the favorites to win the mid varsity postseason.
Playoffs are set to begin in the CFA on Nov. 2-3. Chambersburg’s Peewee (8-0), Pony (6-2), and Midget squads (5-3) are all projected to qualify and the same can be said for Fairfield’s Peewee (3-5), Pony (7-1), and Midget (6-2). Waynesboro’s Midget team, at 6-2, will also be dancing.
