WAYNESBORO – Described as humble, soft-spoken and an advocate for many, Clint Barkdoll was named the 2024 Roy S.F. Angle Business Person of the Year by the Greater Waynesboro Chamber of Commerce at its awards breakfast at Green Grove Gardens on Thursday, Nov. 7.
Barkdoll, of Waynesboro, has been a partner in the law firm of Kulla, Barkdoll & Stewart since 2005.
Sponsored by F&M Trust, the award is presented to a person “who contributed in exemplary fashion to the greater Waynesboro area and contributed to the community in similar ways as the Chamber.” A boxing glove trophy is passed each year to the next recipient.
Bardoll, 51, the son of Linda Barkdoll of Waynesboro and the late Terry Barkdoll, graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School and High Point University. He also is a 1998 graduate of Penn State University, Dickinson School of Law, and was selected for inclusion in the 1998 edition of Outstanding Young Men Of America. Clint and his wife, Amy, have two sons, Will, 15, and Luke, 12.
In addition to his partnership in the law firm, he is a partner/title agent with Center Square Real Estate Settlement Services in Waynesboro and a partner with the Franklin County Dispute Resolution Center. He has been a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association since 1998 and served as president. He was on the board of Franklin County Legal Services and has often done pro bono work throughout his career.
Barkdoll also is solicitor for the Franklin County treasurer, the Franklin County sheriff and the Waynesboro Building Code Appeals Board. He serves as the solicitor for a number of charitable and fraternal organizations throughout Franklin County. Barkdoll has been an adjunct professor in the Department of Business and Economics at Wilson College where he has been teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses for the past 10 years and serves on a number of boards for local organizations.
Barkdoll may be heard Monday through Friday mornings on “The Big Talk” on News Talk 103.7 FM. “There is no way humanly possible that someone can do all that Clint does on a daily basis and do it with such grace and humility,” noted Patrick Ryan, station general manager, in a video presentation. “We are blessed in so many ways to have Clint in our community,” added Sen. Doug Mastriano in the presentation.
Gold sponsor of the breakfast was Patriot Credit Union and the silver sponsor was Penn National Insurance.
Other award winners included Bill Kohler, director of economic development for Mainstreet Waynesboro Inc. for the past eight years, who was named Chamber Champion. The award, sponsored by Sterling Financial Management Inc., was developed in 2013 by Chamber staff to recognize individuals in the community who are working in many of the same ways the Chamber does to improve the socio-economic well-being of the greater Waynesboro area. The selection criteria includes “working to obtain funding for community projects and/or business ventures, both of which must benefit the community at large.”
Waynesboro Community and Human Services was named this year’s Non-Profit of the Year, an award sponsored by Musselman and Creager Certified Public Accountants. WCHS provides basic human services for low-income residents of Waynesboro Area and Greencastle-Antrim school districts.
Hurley Real Estate and Auctions, in business since 1993, is this year’s Small Business of the Year, an award sponsored by Waynesboro Construction. The award recognizes a business with 50 employees or fewer which has had a positive impact on the community. “The engine of the American economy, small businesses create jobs, drive innovation and boost economic growth in their communities,” according to award criteria listed by the Chamber.
Eichholz Flowers was the recipient of the Heritage Award, sponsored by WellSpan Health. The award recognizes a distinguished business that has thrived for more than 25 years – Eichholz has been in business for 130 years – and honors not only longevity, but also significant contributions to the community, culture and economy.
The Trailblazer Award, which recognizes a business or organization that has been in existence five years or less, was awarded to Mason Dixon Creations. The award is given to businesses who “not only deliver good products or services, but are innovative, creative and prioritizes social responsibility and community engagement.” Mason Dixon Creations is a gift shop and boutique offering handmade goods from more than 100 local artisans and vendors.
