CHAMBERSBURG – Get ready for a magical holiday experience!

The Chambersburg Ballet will present the traditional holiday classic,”The Nutcracker,” on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 3 and 7 p.m. and on Sunday, Dec. 15th at 3 p.m. at Chambersburg’s historic Capitol Theatre. The show will feature a cast of more than 40 dancers of the Chambersburg Ballet. The event also brings in professional guest artists and choreography by Chambersburg Ballet’s Artistic Director, Brian Grant.

The roles of the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier will be performed by guest artists Jacqueline Moscicke, who performed with the Joffrey Ballet and is currently a freelance dancer, and Christopher Lingner, a former principal dancer of the Indianapolis Ballet.

Tickets are available at the Capitol Theatre Box Office, by calling (717) 263-0202, or online at: www.chambersburgballet.org. A 15 percent discount is available when theater-goers purchase 10 or more tickets. That discount code is “BalletGroup” at checkout.

The Nutcracker is the official opener for the ballet’s 25th anniversary season. Ahead of its public performances, the ballet is providing a free outreach performance to all fifth grade students in the Chambersburg Area School District. The outreach performance is made possible by an Arts for All grant from The Foundation for Enhancing Communities.

Established in 1999, the ballet provides classical ballet education, training and performance art in Franklin County. The ballet has been an anchor tenant of the Capitol Theatre since it started and has its studios above its prominent marquee.

The Chambersburg Ballet Guild, a 501 c non-profit, operates the Chambersburg Ballet which includes a school for ages 3 through adult, and a dance performance company. The dance company is open to dancers of all ages and those outside of the ballet school.

The ballet produces four shows a year, three of which are ticketed events. The ballet’s next show will be Stravinsky’s” The Firebird” as part of its Winter Showcase inside The Wood Center at the Capitol Theatre  on Feb. 28 and March 1. In April is an emerging artists showcase, and the season will culminate with the premiere of the theater artistic director Grant’s “Cinderella” on June 6 and 7.

A free community performance is planned along with a gala to celebrate the ballet’s 25th anniversary year at the Capitol Theatre. The ballet is grateful to its season sponsors WellSpan Health, F&M Trust, Floor Trader Outlet, Kegerreis Outdoor Advertising, Verstandig Broadcasting and The Hanks Family.
