Mr. Allen Reed, Sr., 83, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 21, 2025, at his home.
Born April 18, 1942, in Waynesboro, he was one of six children born to the late Allen Earl “Skinny” and Margaret L. (Sentz) Reed.
He was a veteran, having served in the PA National Guard.
Mr. Reed was employed at Pizza Hut in Greencastle, PA, as a delivery guy. He also was employed at Roadway (TA), in Greencastle, Beck Manufacturing, Greencastle and at Letterkenny in his early years. He worked various other jobs in his lifetime.
He enjoyed watching football, baseball and softball, having yard sales and video chatting with his son on Sundays and being with family. He was active in umpiring softball and baseball games in his younger days.
He is survived by one brother, Carl Reed, two sons: Allen Reed, Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana and John Reed of Chambersburg, PA and five step-children: Kitty Shew (Bob) of Waynesboro, Nancy Fann of Quincy, Mary Ann Mellott of Chambersburg, Ronald Wagaman of Five Forks, Betty Montiel (Peeper) of Greencastle and three grandsons: Justin Reed and Jailon Reed of Indianapolis, Indiana and Ben Reed of Chambersburg, PA and multiple step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Reed (Hawbaker), in August 2021, a brother, Earl Reed and three sisters: Lois Myers, Lillian Reed (Naugle) and Mary N. Hampton.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. Waynesboro. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, in the funeral home.
