Arthur Wayne Gift, 95, of Chambersburg, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025 in the peacefulness of his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 4, 1929, he was the son of the late John Melvin Gift and Mildred Gertrude (Shatzer) Gift, both of New Franklin. He was one of seven children (Leroy, Gracie, Katie, Elwood, Joe, and Denny). Wayne was born and raised in New Franklin, and always referred to the area as his home. He served in the United States Navy from November 7, 1948 – October 31, 1952, when he was honorably discharged. After that, he married his wife, Dorothy Anna (Kessler) Gift, and was a devoted husband to her for 59 years. He worked at the United Telephone Company (Sprint) as a Field Engineer for over 40 years. Wayne was well known in the community, and attended almost all of his high school class reunions. In addition to being a devoted family man, he enjoyed hobbies like watching sports, collecting coins, and attending endless local Trojan sporting events. He also enjoyed when his family would gather for birthdays and holidays. Wayne looked forward to spending time with his family, which he did often. He attended the Chambersburg Seventh-Day Adventist Church and loved the Lord with all of his heart. He is survived by his five children, Vicki Rhone (Tom), Brenda Winkler, Pamela Ambrose (Ira), Mark Gift (Rhonda), and Lisa Gift; 22 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; and one brother, Denny. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by five siblings, his wife (Dorothy), and one son (Andrew Gift). Arrangements have been entrusted to Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 11:00 am with a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Brandon Senior will be officiating at the funeral home and a military service will be held graveside directly after the service.
