Betty M. Myers, 91, of State Line, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 11, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born January 23, 1934, in Greencastle, PA, she was one of eight children born to the late Harry and Daisy (Coldsmith) Miller.
Betty’s life was a testament to love, laughter, and an unshakable zest for living. Growing up in Greencastle, Betty attended Bushtown School and carried the warmth of her hometown throughout her life.
On June 30, 1951, she married the love of her life, Robert Myers, in Williamsport, MD. Together, they built a life filled with adventure and devotion until Robert’s passing on May 16, 2006.
Betty dedicated over 30 years as a seamstress at J. Schoeneman Manufacturing Co., known as the Stanley Co., where her skillful hands and cheerful spirit made her a beloved colleague. She cherished her outings with the “Stanley girls,” sharing meals and memories that strengthened lifelong friendships.
A faithful member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Betty was actively involved in her church community, reflecting her deep faith and commitment to others. She was also a lifetime member of the Greencastle V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.
Betty’s energy was boundless, and she never met a stranger. Known affectionately as “Ma” by many, she filled her days with gardening, cooking, and baking. She often shared her creations with family and friends and at her annual yard sales, which were legendary, drawing neighbors, family, and friends together in a celebration of community. She treasured trips to the cabin in Pine Grove Furnace with family and friends. She loved playing bingo, hosting poker nights and going to poker nights, and enjoying spirited games of 500 with friends. Above all, Betty’s heart belonged to her family, and her love for them was the cornerstone of her life.
Betty is survived by her son, Russell Myers and his wife, Victoria, of Greencastle; grandson, Jake Myers and his wife, Racheal, of Waynesboro; granddaughter, Jennifer Horst and her husband, Darin, of Chambersburg, PA; two step-grandchildren, Tracey Bard and Denise Erazo; two great-grandsons, Brock Myers and Dylan Horst; seven step-great-grandchildren; seven step-great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Doris Statler and her husband, Milton, of Chambersburg, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by six siblings: Francis McDonald, Harry J. Miller, Mary Tosten, Irene Barbuzanes, Robert Miller, and Charles “Joe” Miller.
Betty’s legacy of love, laughter, and connection will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Trinity United Church of Christ, 29 East Ave. State Line, PA, with Pastor Irene Pouliot officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 15th at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St. Greencastle, PA and again one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
