Mr. Bo Edward Shenebeck, 67, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania.

Born on June 19, 1958, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Bo was the son of the late Guy and Jann (Edinger) Shenebeck. Raised in a proud military family, Bo spent much of his childhood moving from place to place, an experience that shaped his easygoing nature and helped him connect effortlessly with people from all walks of life. He was deeply proud of his parents’ service and later became a member of the American Legion in their honor.

Bo graduated from St. Maria Goretti High School in Hagerstown with the Class of 1976. In his younger years, he was a standout soccer player, a sport he loved throughout his life. Whether watching matches on television or attending games in person, Bo remained an enthusiastic fan of soccer and many other sports. He proudly cheered for D.C. United, the Washington Capitals, the Green Bay Packers, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as well as favorite drivers including Kevin Harvick, Lance Dewease, and Doug Hammaker.

Bo built his career as a sous chef, a role that perfectly matched his love of cooking and caring for others. Feeding people was Bo’s love language. He found joy in sharing meals and bringing people together around a table. Most recently, he was employed by Progress Fire Company Home Association in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Music was another passion that defined Bo’s life. Known for his deep, gravelly, resonant voice that could be heard from half a mile away, Bo had a vibrant personality that left a lasting impression. His smile lit up a room, his laughter was contagious, and his stories, often larger than life, were legendary.

Bo was the kindest and most generous soul anyone could hope to meet. If you ever heard the words, “Hi, I’m Bo,” you were considered a friend, whether he’d known you for years or had just met you moments before. He loved his family and friends deeply and would do anything he could to help them. He listened intently and often found ways to offer support before you even realized you needed it. He was a truly special soul, described by those who knew him as “too unique in the best ways possible.”

He loved simple pleasures, spending time at the racetrack, grilling burgers and hot dogs on the grill, a few beers, good friends, and escaping to the beach whenever he could. Bo cherished time by the ocean, swimming, searching for shells, and sitting in the sand with the salt air on his face, often enjoying a beer or a lemon drop. He delighted in finding shells and small treasures to create whimsical little “people,” photographing them, and leaving them behind for others to discover and enjoy.

Bo was loved by many and adored by his loyal dog, London, whom he had rescued from being put down. His loss is deeply felt by all who knew him, especially his close circle of friends who cherished his loyalty, humor, and heart.

Bo is survived by his devoted life partner and best friend of over 30 years, Sheri A. Cunningham of Mercersburg, who had hoped to share another 30 years filled with laughter, love, and adventure together. He is also survived by two daughters: Nichole Shenebeck of Hagerstown, Maryland, and her children, Jude and Miles Shenebeck; and Teona Shenebeck and her husband, Joshua Mullins, of Oak Island, North Carolina.

In addition to his parents, Bo was preceded in death by his sister, JoAnne F. Johnson.

Details about Bo’s celebration of life will be shared later. Arrangements are entrusted to Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home of Greencastle. Online condolences may be shared at www.bowersoxfuneralhomes.com.

Bo was deeply loved, genuinely cherished, and will be forever missed.
