Bonnie Blocher, 84, of Gardners, PA, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025 in her home. Born September 20, 1940, in Carlisle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Romaine (Toner) Heller.
Bonnie loved to sing and play the guitar. She played at festivals and fairs around the state. She and her husband, Fred, eloped and took her act on the road as a Pure Country singer in 1977. She toured in the Midwest, Canada, and Kansas, as Bonnie Lou Wheeler. Her music can still be heard on YouTube. One of Bonnie’s favorite songs to sing and to live by was “Take Time To Live,“
She finished touring in 1980 and moved to Ft. Myers, Florida, with her husband. They lived in Florida for 12 years where she was employed cleaning homes.
Bonnie still sang at different venues while she worked other jobs. They moved back to PA, and she then started working at Knouse Foods.
Bonnie loved watching the birds and other wildlife from her back porch. She was a good wife and lived life to the fullest.
Bonnie is survived by her husband of 46 years, Fred; two children, Michael O’Donnell (Katie) of Boise, Idaho, and David O’Donnell of Harrisburg, PA; two grandchildren, Justin and Christina Widner of Boise, Idaho; and two great grandchildren, Aiden and Kellan Widner.
