Brian Scott Lauffer, 60, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, April 19, 2025 in his home.
Born May 12, 1964 in Carlisle, PA, he was the son of Mrs. Regina (Line) Lauffer and the late Roy Scott Lauffer.
Brian graduated from Penn State University, York Campus, with a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. Upon graduation he worked briefly at Richard’s Textiles in Shippensburg before embarking on what would be a 38-year career with Allegheny Power/ First Energy. Brian joined Potomac Edison in Williamsport, MD, as a Controls Technician in 1987 (the same position his son currently holds). He moved to West Penn Power in Waynesboro as a Lines Engineering Designer in 1999, and was a Distribution Engineering Technician with First Energy at the time of his passing.
Brian joined the Interstate Truck and Tractor Pullers Association in 1996 and was the owner, driver, and chief mechanic of his built-not-bought Big Block Ford Mini Modified “SpyderMite.” He also belonged to the Society of Automotive Engineers and was a former youth soccer coach.
A dedicated husband, father and animal whisperer, Brian enjoyed spoiling his four dogs, fishing from his boat at Chincoteague, and tinkering on his many projects in “the barn.” And he was anxiously awaiting the maiden voyage of his new camper this summer. But what he most enjoyed were the hobbies he shared with his son, including tractor pulling, riding his BMW motorcycles, recreational target shooting, and watching Cleetus McFarland YouTube videos.
Brian leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Mrs. Cynthia “Cindy” (Rozaieski) Lauffer, who he married in 1987; son, Ian Scott Lauffer of Waynesboro; brother, Gregory B. Lauffer (Sheri) of Shippensburg; and dogs Scooter, Baxter, Nugget, and Cookie.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Vincent Lauffer.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., Saturday, April 26, 2025 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
