Mr. C. Wayne Bivens, 83, of Greencastle, PA, passed away Friday morning, January 9, 2026, in his home.
Born November 27, 1942, in Little Cove, PA, he was the son of the late Samuel H. and Gretna M. (Phenicie) Bivens.
He and his wife, Mrs. Reta Sue (Beaver) Bivens were married August 21, 1982, in Greencastle, PA.
He was employed by P&W Excavating and H.J. Culler before becoming the owner and operator of George Transfer & Rigging, a role that took him traveling throughout the United States. He later retired from Food Lion on March 31, 2009.
Mr. Bivens was a proud member of the Cumberland Valley Antique & Machinery Association. In his younger years, he enjoyed raising rabbits and developed a lifelong love for machinery and farming. An avid tractor puller, he could often be found at Two Top, pulling his John Deere 4010 or John Deere 730. Over the course of his pulling career, he earned numerous trophies and ribbons. Well known for his saying, “If it’s red, leave it in the shed”, and preciously loved by all who crossed paths with him, he will be remembered for his passion, dedication, and the lasting friendships he built along the way.
In addition to his loving wife of 43 years, he is survived by his four children, David W. Bivens, Barbara A. Bigler, Debra K. Bivens, and Jamie L. Bivens; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, as well as an extended host of friends and family.
He was the last of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Glenn H. Bivens, Ralph L. “Pete” Bivens, Betty L. Everts, Frances M. Faith, and Marvin “Mike” Bivens; and one great-granddaughter, Kinsley Minnick.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 16, 2026, in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St, Greencastle with Pastor Brandon Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn’s Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening in the funeral home.
