Mr. Charles E. “Chick” McFerren, 89, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Monday, August 19, 2024 in Parker House, Quincy Village.
Born July 1, 1935 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Charles “Jack” and Janet (Walters) McFerren.
Mr. McFerren served in the United States Army with the Army Corp. of Engineers during the Korean Conflict.
His career in engineering began after taking his trade at Landis Tool Company. He then went on to work at Mack Trucks where he served as project supervisor in the engineering department. He retired in 2000 after 40 years of service.
Mr. McFerren was a member of the Eagles Club, Inc. Owls Club and Waynesboro Fish and Game Association where he served as the Director for 20 years and was a member of the Trap Shooting Team.
An avid outdoorsman, Chick enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and golfing. He also was a skilled woodworker.
Mr. McFerren leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Mrs. Kathryn (Harbaugh) McFerren, who he married June 1, 1963; daughter, Kristin Hunter and her husband, Jack of Berkeley Springs, WV; son, Kevin McFerren and his wife, Elen of Canton, MA; “adopted” daughter, Linda Lindberg (Bo); two grandchildren, Morgan and Colin; sister, Nancy (Mrs. Carl) Scriniere of Palmyra, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews as well as a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, James “Jim” McFerren.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., Saturday, August 24, 2024 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad Street, Waynesboro. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.
