Curtis Lynn Knode, age 65, of Greencastle, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at home.
Born on November 3, 1959, Curtis was the son of the late Travis and Dorothy (Black) Knode. He lived his entire life in Greencastle.
He worked most of his adult life at Nitterhouse Concrete in Chambersburg. He most recently was employed at the Greencastle Welcome Center. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 373, of Greencastle.
He is survived by two sisters, Teresa (Lee) Barnes of Greencastle, PA and Lisa (Steven) Diffenbaucher of State Line, PA; nieces Tara (Justin) Reed and Holly Upperman; nephews Travis (Emily) Barnes, Derek (Cris) Barnes, Jeremy Barnes. He was very fond of his great nieces and nephews (Colton, Landon, Emma, Chloe, Parker, Lucas).
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Curtis enjoyed spending time at the family cabin by Cowan’s Gap, fishing, hunting and being outdoors. Curtis was a creature of habit. He made daily rounds visiting his friends and family around town. He could often be found at his neighbors, visiting his great nieces and nephews, or chatting with his niece Holly’s customers at Haven Salon during his daily visits. Curtis was one of a kind. He was mischievous as a young man, and did not like to be told what to do. He was stubborn, but he was generous, and always willing to lend a hand when he could. As his late father would say, “they only made one of him!” Curtis will be missed dearly by many.
A gathering in remembrance of Curtis will be held at the Greencastle VFW, 408 S. Washington St. Greencastle, on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Friends and family are invited to come with stories and memories of Curtis.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle, PA is assisting with the arrangements.
