It is with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Donna Kay Leatherman announce her passing on July 19, 2025. She was born on August 18,1940 to the late Louise and Harry Hoover of Waynesboro, PA. Mrs. Leatherman graduated from Waynesboro Area High School in 1958 and from Waynesboro Business School in 1959. She was employed by the Department of the Air Force in Washington, DC from 1959 until 1961 whereupon she transferred to Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, PA until 1965 and then to Fort Ritchie, MD until her retirement in 1988. She received numerous Certificates of Achievement and was named Civilian of the Month in March of 1983.
She married Eugene D. Leatherman on January 27,1962 and was married for 59 years until his passing in 2020. She is survived by one son, Stephen E. Leatherman, his wife Jennifer L. Leatherman and her grandchildren Lauren Kay and Landon Stephen all of Lutz, FL. She also had two brothers and is survived by Douglas L. Hoover of Houston, TX as Alan M. Hoover of The Villages, FL predeceased her.
She was a long-time member of Faith United Methodist Church of Waynesboro, PA where she volunteered numerous hours to the Food Pantry and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary, AARP and National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
The family will receive friends at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad Street Waynesboro, PA on Friday July 25, 2025 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be held graveside at Green Hill Cemetery, 953 S. Potomac St., Waynesboro, PA on Saturday July 26, 2025 at 11:00 A.M.
