Dorothy Jean (Baumgardner) Chamberlain, 88, of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Mercy House in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

Jean was born in Waynesboro on Nov. 23, 1936, to the late Quinter and Rose (Rogers) Baumgardner. She graduated from Waynesboro High School and was married to William P. Hoffman Jr. until his death in 1982. She later married Ronald Chamberlain, who currently resides at Laurel Lakes Rehab and Wellness Center in Chambersburg.

Jean spent her entire career in admin positions in elementary, middle, and high schools in the Waynesboro Area School District.

She loved animals and liked to watch the wildlife on her small farm in Zullinger. She took in all the stray cats that found their way to her property and adopted dogs from Antietam Humane Society and greyhound rescue.

Jean was also a talented volleyball player, and she represented Pennsylvania in the Senior Olympics when she was in her 60s.

Throughout her life, Jean enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by siblings Robert Baumgardner, Edna Smith, Rose Jablonski, Helen Hamilton, and Quinter Baumgardner Jr.

Jean is survived by her husband, Ronald Chamberlain; daughters Bobbi Hoffman of Roanoke, Virginia, and Mickie Bolduc (husband David) of Oak Hill, Virginia; and grandsons Curtis Bolduc of Arlington, Virginia, and Darren Bolduc of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, is handling the arrangements.
