Mrs. Elaine M. (Lottes) Kauffman, 97, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2024, in the Waynesboro Hospital.
Born April 13, 1927 near Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Martin George Lottes and Ruth (Victoria) Elizabeth. However, she was raised by her grandparents, Samuel and Maude Hilins.
Mrs. Kauffman graduated from Avonworth High School (PA) with the class of 1945. She later attended Juanita College and graduated from Shippensburg State Teacher’s College in 1963.
She and her husband, the late Dr. James D. Kauffman, were married on June 26, 1946. Dr. Kauffman died on March 1, 1991.
Mrs. Kauffman was a schoolteacher in the Waynesboro Area School District for 4 years and later in the Greencastle-Antrim School District for 12 years. She later owned and operated Country Corner Gallery and Frame Shop in Greencastle for many years.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, where she sang in the church choir for over 50 years and PSEA.
Mrs. Kauffman was an avid bridge player and also kept herself busy with decorations for various seasons. She especially loved Christmas preparations and also enjoyed performing at the Little Theater, where she was one of the founders.
She is survived by two sons, John V. Kauffman (Linda) of Florida and Jeffrey B. Kauffman of West Virginia; and two granddaughters, Kelly DeKramer of Oregon and Amy DeKramer of Kentucky.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, December 23, 2024 in Green Hill Cemetery, 953 S. Potomac St., Waynesboro, PA with Pastor David Deatrich officiating.
