Erma June (College) Shoemaker went to be with Jesus on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Mercy House of Chambersburg. She was born on October 17, 1928, in Welsh Run, PA to the late Mary Edna (Hammill) and William Harvey College . Erma married Glenn Shoemaker on September 10, 1948. In her earlier life, Erma enjoyed working with her husband in Shoemaker’s, Inc., manufacturing business. During their 67 years of marriage, they enjoyed extensive travel in their motor home. She enjoyed being a snowbird in Ormond Beach, Florida, and eventually lived there full time beginning in 2014. Her interests included working at thrift stores with Glenn and her best friend Maureen Dalton, and she also enjoyed sewing and being a homemaker. She and Glenn were active members of St. Thomas Lutheran Church for many years. She is survived by her brother, Harvey (Angela Binkley) of Greencastle, PA. She is also survived by a son, Paul Shoemaker (Cheryl) and a daughter, Cindy Shoemaker (Don); three grandchildren: Todd Shoemaker (Monica), Scott Shoemaker (Erica) and Beth Shoemaker Zacharias (Andrew), and five great grandchildren: Evan Zacharias, Mason Zacharias, Eli Zacharias, Reese Shoemaker and Jordyn Shoemaker. Erma has twenty-three nieces and nephews on the College side (six deceased) and three nieces and one nephew on the Shoemaker side (one deceased). In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by seven siblings: Mary Evelyn College McCarren (Lewis), Boyd College (Janet Myers), Calvin College (Evelyn Bingaman), Paul College, Louise College Diehl (George), David College, and Clara College.
