Mr. Harold Kenneth Ober, Sr., 81, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025 in his home.

Born February 10, 1944, in Plymouth, NH, he was the son of the late Allen K. and Marjorie A. (Fogg) Ober.

Mr. Ober was a graduate of Ashland High School in Ashland, New Hampshire with the class of 1962. He then went on to earn his Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement from Anne Arundel Community College, Anne Arundel County, MD.

Harold served in the U.S. Army, as a military police officer, during the Vietnam Era from 1964 until 1967. He was stationed in Korea and at Fort George Meade in Maryland.

He joined the Maryland State Police July 10, 1967, and retired January 1, 1990, after over 22 years of service. After retirement he worked for the Maryland State Police Motor Vehicle Division from 1990 until 2001 and served as a Special Agent for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s FMCSA from 2001 until 2017.

Harold and his beloved wife, Donna (Davis) Ober were married August 15, 1980, in Linthicum, MD. They were former members of Grace Bible Church, Manchester, MD and Hanover First Church of God, Hanover, PA. They attended Good Shepherd Ministries, Hagerstown, MD. He was a member of Maryland Troopers Association.

In his younger years, Harold enjoyed snow skiing. In addition to traveling because of his job, he and his wife also enjoyed traveling together, mostly to New England, but also to the Western US including Catalina Island, CA.

They did everything together. Harold always put his wife’s needs before his own!

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Becka Ober of Greencastle, PA and his other children, Ken and Alicia; his grandchildren, Dustin Eli Starkey of Waynesboro, Ashley, Emma, Chase and Brianne; one great-granddaughter; a sister, Alice Sabin and her husband, Jim of Moretown, VT; his brother-in-laws: Bruce A. Davis and his wife, Linda, Larry A. Davis and his wife, Kim and Glenn K. Davis and his companion, Donna; his sister-in-laws: Beverly A. Green and her husband, Craig and Laura L. Palmer and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: A. Keith Ober, David G. Ober, Douglas F. Ober, Mark W. Ober and an infant sister, Judy Ober.

Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Monday, July 14, 2025 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, with Keith Tomer officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service, in the funeral home.

Burial with military honors will be held at 1:45 P.M., Tuesday, July 15, 2025 in Garrison Forest Cemetery, Baltimore, MD.
