Mrs. Joanne E. (Boyko) Martin, 89, of Carroll Valley, PA passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA.

Born February 24, 1935 in Windber, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Boyko and Vivian (Ott) Boyko.

Mrs. Martin was a graduate of Windber High School and later graduated from Hagerstown Business College.

She and her husband, the late Clyde H. Martin, were married November 8, 1957 in Washington, D.C. They resided in College Park, MD until moving to Carroll Valley in 1992. Mr. Martin died on January 10, 2019.

In her early life, Mrs. Martin worked for the National Institute of Health as a medical transcriber. Once her children got older, she continued her work in medical transcribing part time for the Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. and later Leland Memorial Hospital, in Hyattsville, MD. She retired in 1992.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Gettysburg, PA and the Valley Girls lunch group in Carroll Valley.

Mrs. Martin enjoyed various crafts and going out to eat with family and friends.

She is survived by two children, Shelley Devlin and her husband Mike of Myersville, MD and David Drew Martin and his wife Denise of Thurmont, MD; two grandchildren, Heather Devlin Diffenbaugh and her husband, Josh and Christopher Devlin; and one great-granddaughter, Chase Diffenbaugh.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Carole Boyko.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 4, 2025 in Trinity United Church of Christ, 60 E. High St., Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Dr. Frederick Young officiating. Burial will be private in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, Waynesboro, PA.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Saturday morning, in the church.
