Mr. John A. Heishman, 83, of Mont Alto, PA, passed away Wednesday morning, March 19, 2025, in his home.

Born October 23, 1941 in Winchester, VA, he was the son of the late Joe Sanford and Minnie (Campbell) Heishman. Following the death of his parents, he was raised at the Quincy Orphanage from the age of 7.

He was a graduate of Quincy High School with the Class of 1960. He later attended Lebanon Valley College.

He and his wife of over 57 years, Nancy K. (Wagaman) Heishman, were married on July 22, 1967 in Quincy United Methodist Church.

In 1964, he began employment at Landis Tool Co, taking his trade in 1965. He retired in 2001 after 37 years of service with the company.

He was a member of Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, where he sang in the choir.

John enjoyed woodworking, yardwork, camping and in his earlier years, playing softball.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Amy E. Campbell of Holly Springs, NC, Anita L. Powell of Waynesboro and Mark E. Heishman of Blue Ridge Summit, PA; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister, Dorothy Heishman of Glenolden, PA; one brother, Earl L. Heishman of Winchester, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Todd J. Heishman; and two sisters, Stella Mae Heishman and Thelma Snapp.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 22, 2025 in The Auditorium at Five Forks Church, 9244 Five Forks Road, Waynesboro, PA with Pastor Ray Kipe officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Saturday morning, in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
