Mr. John D. “J.R.” Davis, Jr., 86, of Greencastle, PA, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Shook Home, Chambersburg, PA.

Born October 22, 1938, in Marion, PA, he was the son of the late John D. Davis, Sr. and Elsie (Crider) Davis.

He married the love of his life, M. Rosalie “Rosie” Davis in Hagerstown in 1959. They enjoyed 62 years together until Rosie passed away July 27, 2021.

He retired from a supervisor position at Grove Manufacturing, where he was employed for 36 years.

J.R. was passionate about classic cars and attended and won many trophies from car shows he entered over the years. He. was one of the founders of Westside Cruisers. He also absolutely loved mowing grass! He will be remembered as a very social man with a positive outlook on life. He will be greatly missed by those he leaves behind.

He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Houck of Greencastle, PA and a son, James D. “Jamie” Davis of Mechanicsburg, PA; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mabel E. (Miller) Swope Dice and a granddaughter- Kaysie Houck.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, April 24th, 2025, in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St. Greencastle, with Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating. Mt. Pisgah Lodge #443 F.&A.M. will perform a Masonic Funeral at the beginning of the service. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
