Mrs. Karen R. (Waybright) Shockey, 74, of South Mountain, PA passed away Thursday, November 7, 2024, in the South Mountain Restoration Center.
Born February 26, 1950 in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Martin J. and Madeline (Harper) Waybright.
She was a graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School.
Karen worked at the South Mountain Restoration Center as a housekeeper. She retired in 2004 after more than 31 years of service.
She was a member of the South Mountain Bible Church and was a life member of the South Mountain Volunteer Fire Department.
Karen was an avid fan of Jeff Gordon and enjoyed attending carnivals and fairs, baking, coffee, collecting carousels and angels and being with her animals.
She is survived by one daughter, Tammy A. Fissel (John) of South Mountain; three grandchildren, Nicol Ringel (Jack), Sam Fissel (Harlee) and Angel Fissel (Tyler); four great-grandchildren, Trevor Shreve, Travis Shreve, Carter Ringel and Maddie Mort; two brothers, Darwin Waybright of Waynesboro and Wilfred Waybright of South Mountain; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her companion, Darrell Kauffman.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 13, 2024 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Pastor Colin Morley officiating. Burial will follow in Strang’s Cemetery, South Mountain.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Wednesday morning, in the funeral home.
