Mr. Kenneth D. “Bubba” Barnes, Jr., 53, of Waynesboro, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 16, 2025, in WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.

Born April 26, 1971, in Martinsburg, WV, he was the son of Mrs. Wanda J. (Verdier) Barnes of Waynesboro and the late Kenneth D. Barnes, Sr.

He was a graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1989 and attended Franklin County Vo-Tech where he studied plumbing and heating.

As a young man, Bubba worked at Gibble’s Food and as a farmhand for a number of years. For the past 35 years, he was a dedicated employee at Grove Manufacturing, currently Manitowac.

He was a member of the Owls Club and Letterkenny Rod and Gun Club.

An avid outdoorsman, Bubba especially enjoyed hunting at his brother-in-law, Frank’s, hunting camp. He loved to watch dirt track racing and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys even when they weren’t doing well. He treasured time spent with his family and his beloved dog, Bailey.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Mrs. Candy S. (Delauter) Barnes who he married May 25, 1995; daughter, Brianna Barnes and her fiancé, Luke Spencer; sisters, Karen Bingaman (Frank) and Melodi Barnes (Randy); and a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by niece, Kailyn Bingaman, and mother-in-law, Arletta “Susie” Welsh.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 22, 2025, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Pastor Bill Shank officiating. Burial will follow in Quincy Cemetery. In honor of Bubba, please dress casually. Racing tees and hunting apparel is encouraged!

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Wednesday, in the funeral home.
