Mr. Lanny R. McCleaf, 85, of Waynesboro, PA passed away peacefully Thursday morning, November 7, 2024, at Paramount Senior Living, Fayetteville, PA.

Born April 27, 1939, in Rouzerville, PA, he was the son of the late Frank B. McCleaf, Jr. and Virginia L. (Kline) McCleaf. He was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area.

He graduated from Waynesboro Senior High School with the Class of 1957.

Mr. McCleaf served as a military policeman with the United States Army. He was stationed in New Mexico.

He and his wife of over 62 years, Jacklyn D. “Jackie” (Horner) McCleaf, were married on June 2, 1962, at Fort Gordon, GA.

Mr. McCleaf worked at Landis Tool Company, Waynesboro. He started as an apprentice and retired as the Vice President of Human Resources after more than 40 years of service with the company.

He was a member of Quincy United Methodist Church, where he served as chairman of the planning council for several years. 

 

He enjoyed playing golf and wood working. He especially enjoyed spending time and sharing stories with his family and friends. He loved his family more than anything in the world.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Joellen M. Aten (John) of Lancaster, PA and Andrew S. McCleaf (Brenda) of Halifax, PA; five grandchildren, Patrick, Isabella, Nicholas, David and Gracia; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Isaac A. McCleaf; one sister, Barbara Ann Earley; and two brothers, Douglas G. McCleaf and Steven L. McCleaf.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, November 14, 2024, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, PA with Pastor Loretta McClure officiating. Burial will follow in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, Rouzerville, PA, where military graveside honors will be conducted by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Thursday morning, in the funeral home.
