Liane Maria Clever, 71, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Mercy House. She was born August 14, 1953, in Bruchsal, Germany, the daughter of the late Maria (Bitsch) and Armin Sohns. Liane was a proud graduate of Shippensburg University with a bachelors in Elementary Education. After graduation she dedicated her life to education and enrichment of young minds at New Franklin Elementary School. Over the course of 30+ years as an educator she taught with compassion, inspired curiosity and left an indelible mark on generations of students. Known for her patience, seeing unwavering potential of every child and love for animals, Liane was more than a teacher – but a guiding light to many. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy will live on in every student she taught, lesson shared an every life she touched. Outside of the classroom she lived a life with grace and compassion. Whether it was her family, friends, or a stranger in need, she gave of herself generously and without hesitation. Liane had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen, heard, and loved- often with just a simple knowing look. She had a quiet meaningful life, cherishing the simple things that mattered the most: picking berries at the old "Drying Shed", a new tree planted, poppies, Horse Valley, listening to music in the car, long drives to nature watch and the laughter of her grandchildren. Above all, Liane was devoted to her family. She took pride in raising four children, always listening, always loving, Liane was deeply loved and will profoundly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She is preceded in death by her parents, son John R Clever and Jerry W Clever (husband of 50 years). Liane is survived by her children: Elizabeth Arter (husband James) and Rebecca, David Clever, Barbara Harshman (husband Aaron Jr.), grandchildren Addison and Anderson Harshman.
