Mrs. Marie A. (Strang) Wagaman, 93, a resident of Shippensburg Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Shippensburg, PA and formerly of South Mountain, PA, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024, in the nursing home.

Born November 14, 1930 in South Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd W. and Susan E. (Cole) Strang.

Mrs. Wagaman attended Adams County School until 9th grade and was a graduate of Quincy High School with the Class of 1949.

She and her husband, the late Edward Ellis Wagaman, were married November 16, 1950. Mr. Wagaman passed away January 24, 2011. Mrs. Wagaman made her home in South Mountain for nearly 81 years, moving to Waynesboro following the death of her husband.

A homemaker for most of her life, she also did babysitting for area families and was employed by the former Samuel Dixon Hospital in South Mountain for a few years.

Mrs. Wagaman and her husband enjoyed traveling, seeing every state in the United States less Alaska, Hawaii and North Dakota. She enjoyed watching Sam do his Elvis impersonation and hearing his beautiful voice, often saying “he sounds like Elvis”. She also loved time spent with family and friends, going out to eat with “the sisters”, talking on the phone to Johnny and doing word search puzzles. An avid dog and cat lover, she especially loved Cooper, Gus, Bailey and Precious. Dearly loved by family and friends, she will be truly missed.

She is survived by one daughter, Patsy B. Burns and her husband, Daryl of Waynesboro; one grandson, Ray “Sam” Wagaman and his wife, Michelle; one great-granddaughter, Zoe Wagaman; three step-grandchildren, Barry Burns and his wife Emily and Holly Donovan and her husband, Sean and Brandon Bakner and his wife, Rachel of Waynesboro; three step-great-grandchildren, Ava, Delilah, and Declan; one step-great-great-granddaughter, Scarlet Jean; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters-in-law, Helen Hess, June Kauffman and Shirley Mohn; and her brother-in-law, Wayne Wagaman.

Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 5, 2024 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, PA with Pastor Lee Daywalt officiating. Burial will follow in Strang’s Cemetery, South Mountain, PA.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Monday evening, in the funeral home.
