Mrs. Mary E. “Bumps” (Zimmerman) Lowson, 88, of Mont Alto, PA passed away Sunday evening, April 27, 2025, in her home.

Born February 17, 1937 in Mont Alto, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Susan E. (Rook) Zimmerman. She was a life long resident of the Mont Alto area.

She and her husband of over 70 years, Thomas Lowson, Jr., were married on September 12, 1954, at Camp Reily, Linglestown, PA.

Mrs. Lowson was a homemaker most of her life. However, she did serve 10 years on the Mont Alto Borough Council, served as a volunteer counselor at local schools, was a cub scout leader and helped to get a local Explorer Post started. She and her husband also helped to organize Franklin County Crime Stoppers and the beginning of the D.A.R.E. program in schools.

She was known as being a neighborhood mother and was an active member of the community and Otterbein Church, Waynesboro. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and playing the piano.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by five children, Thomas Lowson, III (Glennda) of Mont Alto, John Lowson (Barbara) of Waynesboro, Alan Lowson of Waynesboro, Hether Lowson of Mont Alto and Jody Lowson of Mont Alto; four grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, May 2, 2025 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Pastor John Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening and one hour prior to the service, Friday afternoon, in the funeral home.
