Nancy K. Brake, 90, of Quincy Village and formerly of 217 South Oller Avenue, Waynesboro, died 4:40 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Quincy Village.
Born August 6, 1934 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Fred Stephen Kolb and Louise Z. Kolb Brechbiel. She lived her early life in Chambersburg.
She graduated from Chambersburg High School in 1952, then attended Chambersburg Business School.
Mrs. Brake and her husband, Donald R. Brake, were married June 19, 1953. He died September 28, 1993. She lived in their Wayne Heights home for 71 years.
She was the store manager at Long Jewelers of Waynesboro until retiring to spend more time serving her community.
Mrs. Brake was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, where she enjoyed singing in the choir, serving with the Women of Christ United Methodist Church and assisting the business office every Monday.
She was an active member of the Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary, where she spent countless hours doing volunteer work, wherever and whenever needed.
She was extremely proud to be a member of the Red Hat Society. It was her way of enjoying friends while helping others.
Mrs. Brake is survived by her two sons, Thomas R. Brake and Christine of Detroit, Michigan and Edwin R. Brake and Dolly of Baltimore, Maryland; five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; and a brother, William T. Kolb and Peggy of Chambersburg.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Hoke, and her grandson, Corey T. Brake.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday in Christ United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, with Pastor David Deatrich officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
There will be no public viewing. However, the family will receive her family and her friends one hour prior to the services at the church.
