With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Patricia Ann “Patty” (Shank) Whittington, a beloved soul who left us unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at her home in Antrim Township, PA. At 70 years young, Patricia’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Born on March 25, 1955, in Waynesboro, PA, Patricia was the cherished daughter of Gerald and Ruby (High) Shank, also of Antrim Township. She was a graduate of Greencastle Antrim High School’s class of 1973.

Patty dedicated 26 years to Corelle Brands/Instant Brands in Greencastle, working in the accounting department until her retirement in 2023. Even then, her devotion to her work and colleagues kept her engaged part-time, a testament to her steadfast commitment. Before that, she lent her talents to Regency Thermographers, Inc. in Waynesboro, always approaching her work with diligence and care.

To those who knew her, Patty was a radiant light—a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her faith guided her every step, as she lived with the compassion and grace of Jesus, always putting others before herself. Whether helping her parents with unwavering devotion or offering a kind word to a stranger, Patricia’s generosity knew no bounds. Her love for her family, especially her grandkids, was boundless, and her selflessness inspired all who crossed her path.

Patty found joy in life’s simple pleasures—sharing laughter-filled dinners with her lifelong “girls’ group” from high school and creating cherished memories on their vacations together. Her active involvement in Hollowell Church in Waynesboro was a cornerstone of her life, where her faith and community intertwined.

She leaves behind a legacy of love in her two children, Erin O. Peer and her husband, Michael, of Greencastle, and Chad C. Horst and his wife, Missy, of Waynesboro; her four grandchildren, who brought endless joy to her heart: Cody M. Kennedy of Florida, Cory A. Kennedy of Greencastle, Tyler E. Horst and his companion, Karley Martin, of Waynesboro, and John S.L. Horst of Waynesboro; three step-grandchildren: Shianne Peer, McKenna Peer and Dallas Peer; six great-grandchildren, Jupiter, Teddy, Wynonna, Easton, Sammy, and Remi, She is also survived by her brothers, Donald “Donnie” Shank and his wife, Laurie, of Merrimac, Wisconsin, and Edward High and his wife, Trish, of Greencastle, along with a number of nieces and nephews.

Patty’s absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her love will forever linger in the hearts of those she touched.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, PA. A memorial service for Patty will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Wednesday, May 28th at Hollowell Church, 14807 Hollowell Church Rd. Waynesboro, with Pastor Blaine Lougheed officiating.
