Pete Engle, 59, of Waynesboro, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026 in WellSpan Waynesboro Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born July 16, 1966 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of Mrs. Charlotte (French) Engle of Waynesboro.
Pete attended Waynesboro Area High School. As a youth, he was active in 4-H, proudly showing Jersey cattle.
Pete became a skilled carpenter at a young age and dedicated most of his life to the trade at work, home and for various others. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Some of his fondest memories with his daughters, family and friends were spent running around the mountains, camping, and watching sunsets on the back porch.
In addition to his mother, Pete leaves behind two daughters, Allison E. Engle and her husband, Gaser Ahmed and Brittany G. Engle; four grandchildren, Yousef, Yassin, Faris and Malik Ahmed; seven siblings, Ed Reely, Michael Reely, Shirley Cook, Karen Kendall, Rick Reely, Brenda Houck and Mary John; and a number of nieces and nephews as well as a host of extended family and friends.
A time to honor and celebrate Pete’s life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad Street, Waynesboro. Family will be received from 4:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. and friends are invited to visit from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., with a time for sharing memories beginning at 6:00 P.M.
