Mr. Phillip Jay “PJ” Smith, 66, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025 in his home surrounded by family.
Born March 10, 1959 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Alfred and Patricia (Bingaman) Smith.
PJ was a graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1977.
He and his wife of over 47 years, Wanda (Green) Smith, were married September 2, 1977.
PJ was employed by Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg from 1977 until his retirement in 2012.
A jack of all trades, he was especially gifted at working on clocks and doing house renovations.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Sarah Morganthal and her husband, Gary and Jeffrey Smith, all of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, Gage Hoyaux, Rayne Hoyaux and Liam Hoyaux; six siblings, Beverly Gantz (Randy), Denise Lapole (Mike) and Jenny Stoner (Greg), all of Waynesboro, Alan Smith (Joni) of Hagerstown, MD and Alfred Smith, Jr. (Tina) and Brian Smith (Debbie), both of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 4, 2025 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Pastor Jeff Casto officiating. Burial will follow in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, Rouzerville, PA.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening, in the funeral home.
