Mrs. Phyllis Lou (Tawney) Helman, 90, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025, in her home.
Born June 27, 1934 in Winchester, VA, she was the daughter of the late William and Wilda (Pitcock) Tawney.
She and her husband, the late Lloyd Helman, Jr., were married on June 6, 1952, in Gettysburg, PA. Mr. Helman died on November 17, 2023.
Mrs. Helman worked as a crimper at Sesco in Mont Alto, PA.
She attended New Franklin Assembly of God, Chambersburg, PA.
Mrs. Helman enjoyed playing the piano and organ, feeding stray animals, flowers and sewing.
She is survived by four children, Lloyd “Doug” Helman (Kim) of Chambersburg, Howard E. “Gene” Helman (Shirley) of Newburg, PA, Melissa L. Wagaman (Darrell) of Quincy, PA, and Timothy C. Helman (Lorrie) of Chambersburg; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ann Dubbs of Chambersburg, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Pat Tawney.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 28, 2025 in New Franklin Assembly of God, 2355 New Franklin Road, Chambersburg, PA with Pastor Nathaniel Knoll officiating. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Friday morning, in the church.
