Mrs. Rebecca E. “Becky” (Hull) Hess, 73, of Greencastle, PA, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024, in her home after a five-year long battle with multiple myeloma.

Born September 7, 1951, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Frances E. (Harr) Hull.

Becky was a graduate of Greencastle Antrim High School with the class of 1969.

In her earlier days, she worked in retail at various stores. After her children and grandchildren were born, she made her living as a homemaker.

Her and her husband, Rick A. Hess were married September 5, 1971, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greencastle.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who devoted her life to her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved nothing more than spoiling them and cherishing every moment spent together. Becky enjoyed shopping and continued to try to go until the very end. An avid reader, she found joy in the pages of books. Her love for God’s creatures knew no bounds, especially when it came to dogs. Over a span of 50 years, she opened her home to six beloved dogs, offering them the same care and affection she gave her family. Her home was always filled with love, warmth and laughter, and she will be remembered for the countless ways she showed love, kindness, and compassion to everyone around her.

In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her son, Charles R. Hess and his wife Ashleigh of Greencastle; grandchildren, Melanie, Natalie, and C. Elliott Hess; sisters, Patricia Hull and Deborah Brand; and a very special dog, The Famous “Archie”.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Eileen M. Hess and a sister, Theresa Baily.

Services will be held 6:00 P.M, Monday, December 2, 2024, in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington Street, Greencastle, with Chaplin Ronald Faith officiating.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Monday evening in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Becky’s honor to the Antietam Human Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
