Mrs. Rebecca Jane (Zinkand) McCleary, 94, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 10, 2025 in her home.

Born February 25, 1931 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late William Campbell and Mary Jane (Dosch) Zinkand. She was a life long resident of the Waynesboro area.

She and her husband, the late Mr. Charles E. McCleary, Jr., were married August 29, 1947 in Hagerstown. They were together for over 64 years when he passed away October 3, 2011.

Prior to her retirement in 1993, Mrs. McCleary was a longtime employee of Regency Thermographers, Waynesboro.

She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Waynesboro.

An avid gardener, Mrs. McCleary was also a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished time spent with her family. A woman of strong faith, she spent time reading her Bible every morning.

Mrs. McCleary is survived by three daughters, Dorene Bowser and Mary Jane Hess (Randy), both of Waynesboro and Susan Wilders (Tim) of Mont Alto; ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a host of extended family and friends.

She was the last of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents and husband; Mrs. McCleary was preceded in death by daughter, Beverly S. Haugh; son-in-law, Byron Bowser; two grandsons, Barry R. Bowers and Andrew L. Haugh; and sister, Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Zinkand.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, April 17, 2025 in Green Hill Cemetery, 953 S. Potomac St., Waynesboro with the Rev. Dennis Beaver officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to: Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 S. Church St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.
