Mr. Richard E. Shubert, 79, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Monday, July 7, 2025, in the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born July 18, 1945 in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Lester and Dorothy (Stoner) Shubert.

He was a graduate of St. Thomas High School with the Class of 1963.  

Mr. Shubert served in the United States Navy.

He and his wife, the late Margaret I. (Monn) Shubert, were married on May 3, 1980 in St. James United Brethren Church in Chambersburg, PA. Mrs. Shubert died on January 22, 2007.

Mr. Shubert worked as a tool cutter and grinder at Mack Truck, Hagerstown, MD, for over 20 years.

He was an avid bowler, who enjoyed Washington Redskins football, Baltimore Orioles baseball and watching westerns.

He is survived by six daughters, Peggi L. Maietta of State Line, PA, Penni I. Burkett of Hagerstown, Patti J. Covalt of Waynesboro, Amy J. Rumler of Indiana, Pammi S. Sims of Chambersburg and Angela R. Rhines of Waynesboro; two sons, Steven R. Shubert of Hagerstown, MD, and Michael R. Shubert of Frederick, MD; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his siblings, Marvin Shubert, Ronald Shubert, John Shubert and Darlene Provencher; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by twin granddaughters, Tiffany and Ericka Covalt.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 11, 2025 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, PA with Pastor Greg Helman officiating. Burial will follow in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, Rouzerville, PA.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening, in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
