Mr. Robert Francis Fox, 95, of Greencastle, PA, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Chambersburg Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, PA.

Born February 2, 1930, on a farm in Sabillasville, Frederick County, MD, he was the son of the late Wilbur and Myrtle (Brown) Fox. He was very proud of his heritage, one of 9 sons, 6 of which served in the military and 1 who became a minister.

He was a graduate of Thurmont High School with the Class of 1947, and that same year married his wife, Carma (Meek) Fox. They had two children and lived in Sabillasville until her passing in 2006. In 2008, he married his present wife, Martha (Lindsay-Alger) Fox and moved from Sabillasville to Greencastle, PA.

Known to many as “Chief” and “Uncle Bob”, he served as Fire Chief at Blue Ridge Summit Fire Department for 19 years, during which time he began the very successful Jr. Fire Fighters Program, and holds a Lifetime Membership Honor. He learned sheet metal trade at Frick Company, built torpedo casings at Westinghouse Electric, and later worked at Mack Truck for 25 years. After retirement from Mack Truck, he created his own local construction business, Summit Contractors. He also served on the Advisory Board of the State of Maryland Department of Juvenile Services at Victor Cullen Center, and was a member of the Maryland National Guard Post #729. He attended Otterbein UB Church in Greencastle with his wife, Martha.

He was very creative and skillful, always working on projects, big and small, including building his Sabillasville home and his daughter’s home. He enjoyed planting colorful flowers and making the yard beautiful. He loved nature, local history, attending country music jams & church festivals, playing dice, eating desserts, and spending time with family & friends. His family and friends were very special to him and that love was returned, including his most recent friends made at Chambersburg Skilled Nursing & Rehab, since 2024.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Robert F. Fox, Jr. (Sue); three grandchildren, John W. (Jay) Sharpe II (Emily), C. Todd Sharpe (April), and Lindsay Fox; six great grandchildren, Loren (Sharpe) Jackson (Joshua), Cameron Sharpe, Zander Sharpe, Rachel Sharpe, Charles Sharpe, and Daniel Fox; and two great-great grandchildren, Charlotte Jackson and Caroline Jackson.

He is also survived by step-children, Virginia, Steven and Robert Alger; step-grandchildren, Kiersten and Kyle Cole, Hailey (Alger) Stoner and Logan Alger; and three step-great-grandchildren, Sophia, Jacob and Nathan Cole.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Jane Sharpe; son-in-law, John W. Sharpe; infant grandchild, Deanna Sharpe; and brothers, Paul, Glen, Richard, Chester, Lester, Merle, George and his 2 yr. old brother, Kenard Lee Fox.
