Robert (Bob) J. Hargrave, 82, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025, in his home, following a long battle with cancer.

Born January 20, 1943, in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Frank J. Hargrave, Sr. and Lillian (King) of Glenside, PA.

He graduated in 1960, from Abington Senior High School, Abington, PA.

Bob served in the Navy from November 13, 1960, to November 25, 1964, and then transferred to the reserves until November 12, 1966. Bob then went into retail and was manager of several Peoples Drug Stores, it then changed to Drug Fair Stores and then finally to CVS Pharmacies but settled at the Waynesboro store. Robert retired in 2005 and worked part-time for a short time at Brooklane Psychiatric Center and then to Washington Township, where he worked for the Parks Department from August 2006 to July 2016, at which time he fully retired.

Robert loved life and enjoyed taking walks, taking photographs along the way, collecting swords and dragons, ballroom dancing and always enjoyed nature.

Robert is survived by his wife, Karen Hargrave, by 4 children: Sandra Cox (husband, Doug) of Waynesboro, Ginell Stull (partner, Paul Draper) of Waynesboro, Robyn Ocker (husband, Scott) of Spartanburg, SC and Robert Hargrave of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one twin brother, Frank Hargrave (wife, Christine) of Folcroft, PA, one sister Mary Trunk (husband, Tony) of Glenside, PA, a brother-in-law, Dennis Myers (wife, Cindy), sister-in-law, Patricia Clark, sister-in-law, Debbie Myers, as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Jack K. Hargrave who gave his life for this country: brother-in-law, Paul Myers and brother-in-law, John Myers.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. Waynesboro, PA.

A Graveside Service with military honors provided by Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post#1599 will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, PA, with Minister Teresa Needham officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the local cancer society or the Antietam Humane Society in his memory would be appreciated.
