Mr. Robert V. Johns, Sr., 71, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025 in Laurel Lakes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
Born October 15, 1953 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Reynard M. and Katherine L. (Shearer) Johns.
He and his wife of over 52 years, Joyce M. (Bookwalter) Johns, were married November 18, 1972.
Mr. Johns was employed as a forklift operator at Corning Glass in Greencastle, PA. He retired in 2008 after 30 years of service.
He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Fairview Ward, Waynesboro.
An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Johns enjoyed hunting, fishing and going spotlighting. He also loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and followed both the Maryland Terrapins and Brigham Young University sports teams.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Betty S. Johns and Robert V. Johns Jr. (Jen), both of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Robert, III (Casey), Micheal, Heather (Gary) and Jonathon; five great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Koden, Kaleah, Paxton and Avalinn; two sisters, Sally A. Runyon and Gloria Johns, both of Chambersburg; four brothers, Gary L. Johns of Chambersburg and James E. Johns, Ronnie R. Johns and Timothy L. Johns, all of Greencastle; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cathy Johns.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 12, 2025 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Fairview Ward, 11887 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro with Bishop Jared Childers officiating. Burial will follow in Antietam Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday evening, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
