Rodney Howard Jolliffe, 69, of Hagerstown, fondly known to many as "RJ" or "Rod", passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on early Tuesday morning, June 3, 2025, at his residence. He was the husband of his beloved wife Edith Marie "Sissie" Bond Jolliffe, his wife of 35 years.
Born September 14, 1955, he was a son of the late Marie Jolliffe Hofer. While he attended St. Mary's Catholic School, Hagerstown, he served as an alter boy for 5 years. He graduated from North Hagerstown High school in 1974.
Rodney was last employed with JLH Industries, Hagerstown.
In his personal life he loved to go fishing and camping. Rodney enjoyed annual family beach trips. Known for his friendly funny nature, he enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. Rodney was known for making jokes and always smiling. He loved to spoil his grandchildren and teach them how to be as ornery as he was. His wife and daughters will remember him for his unconditional love and patience.
Rodney, besides his wife, is survived by his beloved by two daughters Mary Stone and husband Jeff, and Heather Zimmerman and husband Adam, all of Hagerstown; by five grandchildren RJ, Kari, Jazz, Alyssa, and Chase; four great grandchildren Sadey, Matteo, Cora, and Weston; and a great great grandchild Wallen; as well as by his brother Doug Hoffer and wife Yvette; and sister Cheryl Pineda; and many nieces and nephews.
Rodney, in addition to his mother, was preceded in death by his grandparents William Howard and Matilda Ann Jolliffe; and two great grandchildren, Kamryn and Miguel Jr.
The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, on Monday, June 9, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 10, beginning at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Sharon S. M. Swope, pastor to and friend of the family will officiate. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
