Mr. Ronald E. “Ronnie” Koons, 70, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025, in his home, with his family and friends by his side.

Born March 8, 1955 in Waynesboro, he was the son of Bernice (Welsh) Koons of Waynesboro and the late Harold J. Koons. He was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area.

Ronnie graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1974, where he also played football.  

He and his wife of over 50 years, the love of his life, Sue A. (Swope) Koons, were married on June 22, 1974, in Quincy United Methodist Church, Quincy, PA.

Ronnie worked for Landis Tool Company, Waynesboro, for over 35 years. Retired in 2009 due to disability.

He was a member of Quincy United Methodist Church and various clubs in Waynesboro. He was a life member of the Waynesboro Volunteer Fire Company, formerly Mechanics Steam and Hose Co.

Ronnie enjoyed nascar, bowling, watching football – especially the Denver Broncos and going to watch races.  

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two children, Penny (Koons) Quinteros (William) and Kevin L. Koons, both of Waynesboro; five grandchildren, Leanora Johnson, Isabella Pharr, William Quinteros, Cameron Koons and David Quinteros; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Deborah (Koons) Hess of Chambersburg, PA and Dawn (Koons) Erdenbrack of Quincy, PA; two brothers, Jay Koons of Greencastle, PA and Denny Koons of Newburg, PA; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Akia Johnson.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 27, 2025 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, PA with Pastor Loretta McClure officiating. Burial will follow in Quincy Cemetery, Quincy, PA.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Thursday afternoon, in the funeral home.
