Mr. Ronald G. McKinney, 78, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Chambers Pointe Heath Care Center, Chambersburg, PA.
Born November 14, 1946 in Louisville, KY, he was the son of the late Melvin G. and Norma (Arnold) McKinney.
Ronald was a graduate of the University of Louisville and served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. For his service in Vietnam, he was awarded The Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.
He and his wife of over 44 years, Christine B. (Brown) McKinney, were married on July 10, 1980.
Ronald worked for the Department of Defense in labor relations, South Mountain Restoration Center, South Mountain, PA as the IT Director, and for 15 years he was the soccer coach at Penn State Mont Alto.
He was a member of Phi Kappa Tau, Waynesboro Youth Soccer Association and the Waynesboro Country Club.
Ronald enjoyed practicing tai chi, swimming, running and traveling extensively throughout the world.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Kathleen B. “Kate” McKinney; two sisters, Karen McKinney and Janice Collins; and many extended family members.
Private graveside services with full military honors will be held in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
