Much beloved daughter, sister, wife, aunt and friend Mrs. Rosemary Virginia (Benchoff) Eshelman, 90, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Quincy Village, Waynesboro.

Born September 6, 1934 near Blue Ridge Summit, she was the daughter of the late J. Thompson and Marie A. (Hickey) Benchoff. She lived her early life in Waynesboro and Philadelphia.

Mrs. Eshelman attended St. Andrew Catholic School, Waynesboro and then attended Immaculate Heart of Mary School, Philadelphia. She also received a degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

She and her husband, the late Weldon Hess “Peck” Eshelman, were married on April 14, 1973, in Welty Church of the Brethren, Smithsburg, MD. They lived on Midvale Road, Waynesboro for many years, before moving to Quincy Village in June of 1995. Mr. Eshelman passed away February 27, 2015.

She was primarily a homemaker, but she also helped her husband at Eshelman’s Mill, Waynesboro, a business that he ran for 53 years.

She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church, Blue Ridge Summit, PA, St. Andrew Catholic Church, Waynesboro, PA and attended Chapel at Quincy Village. She was also a member of Blue Ridge Summit Garden Club, the National AARP and South Chapter 2977 AARP, the Waynesboro Historical Society, Renfrew Museum, and was a charter member of Pen Mar Dance Club.

Rosemary enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, dancing, working on crafts and when she was younger, she enjoyed horse riding.

She is survived by a step-daughter, Jane E. Shaffer of Charlotte, NC; three step-grandchildren: five step-great-grandchildren; one nephew, J. Martin Benchoff, Jr.; one niece Elaine (Eshelman) Miller; and her sister-in-law, Martha Dunmire Eshelman. She is also survived by great-nieces and nephew Elizabeth Benchoff, Charlotte Benchoff, Alexandra Benchoff and Wyatt Benchoff.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her step-son, David R. Eshelman; her brother, J. Martin Benchoff; and her niece, Helen Marie Benchoff.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 28, 2024 in Green Hill Cemetery, 953 S. Potomac St., Waynesboro, with Chaplain Justin Isbister and Rev. Christopher Onyeneke, MSSCC officiating.
