Thomas "Tom" William Beard, 72, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025, in Chambersburg, PA. He was born on May 5, 1953, in Chambersburg, PA, to the late George and Mary (Corwell) Beard. Tom spent his early life in Pond Bank, PA, during which time he developed his love of music. He graduated from Chambersburg Area Senior High School in 1971. Tom was a guitarist in several local bands over the years, meeting lifelong friends whom he loved and respected. He retired from JC Penny after working for many years as a supervisor. Tom loved the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Phillies and watching classic movies but his greatest love was music and his favorite bands were the Beatles and Steely Dan. Tom is survived by two daughters, Karen (Ross) Laurie and Erika Beard; his stepdaughter, Jennifer Rowles; his stepson, Brian Porter; his sister, Linda (John) Mentzer; ten grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a nephew, Shane Mentzer; niece, Carla Winesickle; and numerous cousins. In addition to his loving parent, Tom was predeceased by his ex-wife and mother of his children, Sandra (Norwood) Beard. A funeral service for Tom will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Sellers Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with a time of visitation one hour prior to the service with Rev. Carl McKee officiating.
